    Cambridge families with children birth to 8  years – celebrate National Family Literacy Month this November by playing Family Literacy Bingo with your child. Talk, read, play, sing, tell stories and have fun together! Win a children’s book for getting 5 in a row!

    Print out an age-appropriate bingo board (one for birth to 3 years or one for 4-8 years ) or pick one up at the locations listed below.

    Pick Up Locations:

    • Cambridge Public Library branches
    • Center for Families, 51 Inman Street

    How To Play:

    • Together with your child, pick a square, and do the activity
    • Mark the box with an “X” when finished
    • Mark 5 boxes in a row (top to bottom, left to right, or diagonally) to get Bingo
    • Take a photo of the board and send it in by text, email, or social media by November 30, 2023 to win a children’s book.
    • Want to do more? Complete the whole board to win a 2nd children’s book

    Join us on Saturday, November 4th for the 24th Annual Cambridge Family Literacy Fun Day, which kicks off National Family Literacy Month (November)!   

    This free event will take place at Cambridge City Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is open to all Cambridge families with children birth through grade 3.

  8. Book Bike Summer Party

    Cambridge Book Bike is holding a summer party on Wednesday, August 9 from 5:30-7:00 at Clement Morgan Park!  Free children’s books, activities, and storytime. 

    Dinner provided by Summer Food Program.

    A StoryWalk is a children’s book hung page by page around a park in Cambridge where families can read, walk, and talk together.     Move, Let’s Eat, Let’s Read!

    Cambridge Book Bike is back this year! The Book Bike will be at a different park on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30-12:30 for 5 weeks. Cambridge children of all ages can pick a free book, do a craft, get a free lunch and hear stories read aloud.

    The Book Bike supports healthy bodies and healthy minds by visiting some of the Cambridge parks that participate in the Summer Food Program, which provides free lunches to children under 18.

    The goal of the Book Bike is to give all children access to books to build their home library for enjoyment and learning in the summer to help prevent “summer slide”. Meeting families in the park for stories and activities, the Book Bike models that reading is fun! The program provide a wide variety of titles, topics and languages so children can find a book they want to read.  Research has shown that children read more when they select the book.  For more information:
