Book Bike Finishes Successful Inaugural Season

The Cambridge Book Bike (www.cambridgebookbike.org) gave out almost 800 books (789 to be exact!) to children from birth to 18 years old over the course of 6 weeks this summer! The goal of the Book Bike is prevent “summer slide” and make reading fun and enjoyable.

The Book Bike collaborated with DHSP’s Summer Food Program to bring free children’s books to the parks (Hoyt, Greene-Rose, and Gore Street) where kids receive free lunch as part of the city’s “Let’s Move! Let’s Eat! Let’s Read!” campaign.

The Book Bike is a partnership of Liz Phipps-Soeiro, School Librarian, the Agenda for Children Literacy Initiative, and the Center for Families. Be on the lookout for us next summer at a park near you!
